Pat Hume – President
Pat is a native Californian whose family roots in Elk Grove date back to the 1940s. Pat grew up in Elk Grove, was in the first First Grade class at Markofer Elementary and attended Kerr Middle School. He served on the City of Elk Grove Planning Commission from incorporation until March of 2006 and was elected to the City Council the same year (2006).
Pat is an active community volunteer who contributes his time and talent as an auctioneer and emcee at several local events each year. Pat serves as the Vice President for the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation and is the founded the Foundation’s Spotlight Elk Grove fundraiser event.
Pat works for Emerald Park Company, the homebuilding company founded by his grandfather in 1964. Pat is married to Lisa Hume. He enjoys camping, golfing, skiing and fishing.
Rebecca “Becky” Davis – Vice President
Rebecca “Becky” Davis is a retired Elk Grove Unified School District certificated Teacher/Administrator of over 40 years and worked at the elementary school level. She is a member of a number of local organizations within Elk Grove including Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation, Elk Grove Rotary and The Strauss Festival of Elk Grove.
Chet Madison – Vice President
Chet Madison, Sr. served on the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education from January 2000 to December 2020, representing Trustee Area 3. Mr. Madison held the office of Board President in 2005, 2012, 2013, and 2018. He has been actively involved with teh Elk Grove Unified School District for over 40 years, during which time his four children attended schools in the district and are graduates of Valley High School. He is currently a Board Member of the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation for the past 13 years.
Mr. Madison was employed with Consolidated Freightways Inc., for more than 34 years and retired as their Northern California Group Operations Manager. Chet also retired from S&G Flooring where he worked as a consultant for 11 years. He attended San Francisco State University majoring in Business Administration and served in the U.S. Army, returning as a Vietnam veteran.
Chet and his wife, Sarah Jo, enjoy spending time with their family, which includes ten grandchildren - all of whom attended or are attending schools within the Elk Grove District.
Suzanne Kennedy – Vice President
Suzanne was born and raised in Elk Grove, graduated from Elk Grove High School before receiving a B.A. degree from UC Davis, with a double-major in International Relations and Spanish. After starting off her career as an international commodities trader, Suzanne went on to receive a Juris Doctorate degree from McGeorge School of Law, practicing in the area of civil litigation with a private law firm before joining the City of Elk Grove City Attorney’s office in 2010. Suzanne, along with her husband Paul and two children, are active in the community, enjoy travel, and greatly value time spent with family and friends.
Steve Singleton – Treasurer
Local resident for over 25 years. Steve & his wife Nola are parents of three & grandparents of eight. They believe that education was the key to their success and they want to assure that others are given an opportunity to succeed in their lives.
Arlene Hein – Secretary
Retired as Senior Executive to Superintendent of the Elk Grove Unified School District after many years of service.
Lisa Troshinsky-Fox – Executive Director
Lisa Fox is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in Sociology/Communication and has a well-rounded background in media, public relations, nonprofit advocacy, development, and strategic collaboration. Lisa is passionate about the greater Sacramento region and loves doing her part to better the community. Lisa's prior experience includes work with a variety of agencies and nonprofits, including: Triumph Cancer Foundation, American Cancer Society, HealthCorps, Initiative/Western Media, Home Line Furniture Industries, California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, and California Prune Board.
Lisa is excited to join the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation, where she feels she can directly impact the lives of many of the young adults in our local community.
Jeff Alvarez – Program Coordinator
Jeff Alvarez has been hired by the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation in partnership with the Cosumnes CSD as an Administrative Specialist/Program Coordinator to further their respective reach and amplify their positive impact within the Elk Grove community. Jeff is tasked with promoting the Foundation’s mission while providing vital assistance to the annual scholarship process including fundraising aspects, such as the Foundation’s hallmark event Bounty on the Boulevard.
Dru Bornhoeft
Dru Bornhoeft is currently a Crime and Intelligence Analyst with the Yolo County District Attorney's Office. He has earned bachelor’s degrees is in business and mathematics from Montana State University Bozeman, and is a veteran of the US Navy Seabees. In his spare time, Dru enjoys running, playing with his dogs, woodworking, and Tiki’s.
Faye Bundesen
Retired educator, and retired owner of real estate and property management company. Board member of the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation since 1996. Active in the Incorporate Elk Grove Committee, member of Soroptimist International of Elk Grove, and involved in other community events.
Marie Coleman
Marie has been a member of the board for over 10 years. Marie has chaired the foundation fundraising events for 15 years+ and is currently Co-Chairing “Bounty on the Boulevard” for the 2nd year. Marie was Elk Grove Citizen of the Year in 2014 and Past President of MPI Sacramento/Sierra Nevada Chapter an international organization for meeting and event planners.
Jessica Nuñez Hallbourg
Jessica has lived in California most of her life (in both Southern and Northern California). She moved to Elk Grove in 2004 and continues to raise her family in this wonderful city. Jessica is married with three children which reminds what matters most in life, family! She is excited to be more involved in her community where she can make an impact and can be the most helpful.
Jessica has over 20 years of finance experience and is currently Vice President of Finance at VSP headquarters in Rancho Cordova, CA. Her day-to-day responsibilities include financial reporting, identifying and mitigating risks with internal controls, and managing internal/external financial audits. She holds a business degree concentrated in accounting and an MBA from CSU Sacramento. Her goal at work and in the community is to be in roles that allow her to maximize her strengths and keeps her challenged - in a role where she can continuously learn while adding value and making a difference. She strives to be a catalyst for change where it makes sense and to promote/provoke thought on the “whys” of tasks performed.
Janet Hume
Janet was born in Prairie City, Oregon and then moved to Elk Grove with her family as a teenager. She is a graduate of Elk Grove High School and attended the University of Oregon before marrying the love of her life, Harlan Hume. They had five children together and moved all over the world as an Air Force family before his passing in 1977. After that, she returned to Elk Grove and helped run a portion of the family’s real estate business. She was a member of the Elk Grove Planning Advisory Council prior to the city’s incorporation and was active in the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce, including its board of directors. She loves traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Glenn Ibe
Glenn Ibe has over 30 years of experience in banking and retail sales management. As Assistant Vice President/Community Branch Manager of the Elk Grove Branch, Glenn is ready to assist you with all of your banking needs. He is a member of several local organizations including the Rotary Club of Laguna Sunrise, Elk Grove Teen Center and the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce. Glenn was the past president of Eskrimador Samahan of Sacramento, a non-profit for those interested in Filipino martial arts and culture. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, watching basketball and football.
Glenn looks forward to furthering the strong tradition of personalized service, customer attention and community involvement that has been the trademark of the Bank of Stockton for over 155 years.
Merrilee Lewis Engel
Merrilee Lewis Engel, Ph.D. has been a member of the Board for many years and has served as the emcee of the Spotlight on Scholarship Event for 18 years. She received the Distinguished Service Award for her work with the Foundation.
She also sponsors the four $1000 Merrilee Lewis Engel Scholarships every year. She was the President of Cosumnes River College for eight years and retired in 2003. She lives in Elk Grove with her husband, Simon Engel.
Natasha Moore
Natasha Moore is a curriculum and instructional coach who has worked for Elk Grove Unified since 2007. She has three children who attend school in Elk Grove, and a husband who is a teacher in the school district. She and her family are dedicated to ensuring every student in Elk Grove has the opportunity to go to college. She is currently Co-Chairing the foundation's hallmark fundraiser, “Bounty on the Boulevard”.
Elizabeth Pinkerton
Elizabeth Pinkerton is a retired teacher and administrator of Elk Grove Unified School District. She has been a Board member of the Scholarship Foundation for 20 years. She is a scholarship donor, and has provided 75 scholarships from sales of local history books she has written.
Kevin Spease
Kevin Spease is a long-time resident of Elk Grove. After military service, Kevin returned to the hometown he loves. He has been married to Angela for 30 years and their son, Jeremy, is 26 years old.
Brian Wiese
Brian has been involved in the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation since 2012. He is currently chair of the Development Committee.Brian’s architectural career began in 1970 in Wisconsin. He has been a Principal Architect since 1970 beginning with his own firm and later merging to form Staff King Wiese Architects in 1995.He lives in Elk Grove with his wife Jan and they have established a scholarship in memory of their daughter Erika Wiese.
Mike Zehnder
Mike Zehnder is an Elk Grove native with six brothers and grew up on the family dairy. He graduate from Elk Grove High School, Class of 1972. He attended Cosumnes River College, obtained AA degrees in Agri-Business and a certificate in Fire Science. He was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Elk Grove Fire Department while attending college and became a full-time firefighter in 1976 and retired 2009 as the rank of battalion chief.
Mike and his wife Kathy have three daughters all graduates from Elk Grove High School, and 8 Grandkids (as of July 2019)
Pat Weaver – Representative from Elk Grove Optimist Club
Pat Weaver is a long-time resident of Elk Grove since 1970 where she and her husband worked, raised their three children, and participated in community activities. She joined the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation in 2005 after retiring from the Elk Grove Unified School District where she worked for 30 years. For the Foundation, she is on the Spotlight on Scholarships event committee and participates on the Scholarship Committee. She and her husband, Warren Weaver, received the honor of Citizen of the Year in 2015.
Jack Edwards – Elk Grove Lion’s Club Representative
Jack has been an active member of the Elk Grove community for many years. He was the local game warden with the California Department of Fish and Game from 1981-86. He became involved with the Elk Grove Youth Soccer League when his sons wanted to play soccer and was active with their board for 17 years. After his retirement in 2003, he joined the Elk Grove Lions Club. He is a past president of the Elk Grove Lions Club and over the years has held almost every position on their board over the years.
Jack has served on the committee for the Elk Grove Youth Foundation’s Running of the Elk since its inception and is a member of the Elk Grove Food Bank’s EG Run 4 Hunger committee. When not traveling or canning jams and vegetables from his garden, Jack has been creating websites for various Elk Grove nonprofit organizations since the late 1980s. Jack is a member of American Legion Post 55 in Elk Grove. Jack and his wife Tracey were selected as the Elk Grove Citizens of the Year for 2020.
Tracey Edwards – Soroptimist International of Elk Grove Club Representative
Tracey has lived in Elk Grove since 1995 with her husband Jack and three children. She worked for the State of California for 23 years (Dept. of Food and & Agriculture, Dept. of Social Services, and Dept. of Fish and Game.) When she retired early, she got her Real Estate license and worked for Coldwell Banker (CB). There she coordinated CB’s Scholarships for Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation (EGRSF). She volunteered at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop (ACSDS) for 5 years. She is a Virtual Assistant and helped Elk Grove Food Bank Services, ACSDS, and EGRSF with their Social Media. Tracey was inducted into Soroptimist International of Elk Grove (SIEG) in June 2013 and served as their President from 2015-2017. She served as the Soroptimist Sierra Nevada Region E-Blast Coordinator, District 3 Director, Public Awareness Chair, and 5 Star Award Coordinator. Tracey is currently serving as SIEG’s President again and is the chair for EGFBS’s Elk Grove Run 4 Hunger. Tracey and her husband Jack were selected as Elk Grove Citizens of the Year for 2020.
Frank Lucia – Representative from Elk Grove Rotary Club
Frank Lucia worked as a teacher, coach and high school principal within the Elk Grove Unified School District for 36 years. After retiring in 2009, he joined the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation Board to continue his work in providing student support as they transition into post secondary education.
Nicole Brown – EGUSD Head Counselor
Currently, as Elk Grove Unified School District’s Head Counselor, Nicole promotes the coordination of counseling services for students; with a passion for balancing academic achievement with cultural responsiveness for the well-being and social emotional development of all students. With student-centered programs for college as well as career preparedness and connections to post-secondary career pathways – all students can experience social-emotional wellness and career success!
